Welcome to UCF's MSDF program, fall 2009!

The following please find some quick updates and useful information regarding the program and class schedules in particular:

  • Effective fall 2009 the MSDF program adheres to a single curriculum, by combining two tracks existed previously. Students admitted to the program prior to fall 2009 can follow the old requirements to complete the degree in respective tracks or opt to the revised curriculum, see details at the MSDF Program site.
  • Information of class schedules (fall 2009 and spring 2010) is posted at the above site. Around March of 2010 the next batch of class schedules for summer/fall 2010 and spring 20111, will be posted at the same site.
  • Typical classes to take in the fall semester include: CGS 5131 (Computer Forensics I) and CHS 5503 (Topics in Forensic Science). Both classes require permission codes so please contact the MSDF Program Coordinator Dr. Lang (lang@cs.ucf.edu) if you have not registered. You need to register for at least one class by Sunday, Aug. 23, for fall 2009 in order to avoid paying late registration fee.
  • There are a few other classes available for fall 2009. Beginning students should not attempt to register for CIS 6386 or CET 6887 since both require CGS 5131 as prerequisite. CCJ 6706 is an elective course for students with proper background but requires permission code to register. Contact Dr. Lang if you are interested.
  • Generally students take classes based on own pace but do not take more than three classes per semester. Class schedules of past year give good indication of future schedules. Feel free to contact Dr. Lang if you have any questions/concerns or seek individual consultation.
  • Most (if not all) classes use WebCourses to deliver course-related materials online. You may see links to all your online classes when you logon to the site https://my.ucf.edu. These links should be populated with course materials (syllabus, notes, assignments, announcements, etc.) by the beginning of the week starting Monday, August 24, 2009.
